Thank you card

Here's a way to combine crafting a genealogy...sort of. Last fall I finished a rather rigorous 15 week online program with Boston University received a Certificate in Genealogical Research. I recently made a request to a researcher in Canada to see about getting some records. Since the records weren't online it's much cheaper to pay someone a few bucks to pull the records than for me to make the trip there. It turns out the gal I hired was in the class with me. I remember her name as she made very insightful comments on our chat boards we had so I hired her.

Anyway, I sent my payment to her in this card that I made using the double bugging (Cuttlebug) technique.

The view from the top

On the way up to visit a family member in DC hubby and stopped off to tour the George Washington Masonic Memorial in Alexandria. The only way to get this view is to take the tour. It is worth the price. It was an overcast day so our vista view wasn't wonderful but we were able to pick out the Washington Monument the Capitol, the National Cathedral and the Basilica at Catholic University. The other obvious sights were the new Wilson bridge and Washington National airport. However this picture shows only the view straight down from the observation deck with the Potomac River in the background. The designers of the memorial envisioned this view as one you'd get in a reflecting pond with the water rippling. The symbol of the Masons is in the middle of the shot.

Walking down a country road

A couple of weeks ago hubby and I were up in DC visiting a family member. On the way back I suggested we check out Gunston Hall the home of George Mason. It was a nice day, not too hot or muggy and we enjoyed our grounds. I got this shot enroute to view the family gravesite. As a genealogist I was interested in looking at the graves as a photographer I enjoyed the view and as a tourist I enjoyed the tour.

Thinking of You card

Here's another card I made using papers and Dazzles from Hot off The Press. This one uses the "innies" or insides of a star outline. This card is for a niece celebrating a wedding anniversary.
