Happy Valentine's Day

Here's the card I made for hubby. The embossed images are from my Cuttlebug and the stamps are from Scrappy Cat. I find I have the best success when I use chalk inks with clear stamps. These stamps are clear so I used Color Box chalk inks. Hope everyone has a Happy Valentine's Day.

Get well card

Here's a card I made for my niece a while back. She's a three sport player: basketball, volleyball and soccer her favorite. She broke her collarbone last fall and couldn't have any contact so she had to do drills by herself. This card is from the November 2007 Sheetload template. I used patterned paper from a Provo Craft super slab. The swirls are embossed on light blue paper and then have Ranger distress inks applied to bring out the color. The get will stamp is a Studio G $1 stamp.

Recycling and possibly some free paper

I'm fortunate to live near a print shop. I don't mean a place that makes copies but is a full color printer. They can also do graphic and logo design if you have the idea but not a finished product. I got a tour of their operations last semester since I was taking a class at the local community college in print publications. During the tour the owner was mentioning that when they have scraps of a reasonable size they save them. Teachers and administrators from the local schools pick up the materials and use them for art projects or just to have some scrap paper on hand. After the tour I asked if I could be a recipient of some of their goodies. They said come on by, have a look and take what you want. I got some linen type paper of various colors and semi-gloss white and off white. The scraps were the perfect size for cards and ATC's.

It's nice to see a business owner with a "think globally - act locally" way of doing business. Take a look at your local yellow pages and see if you have a printer in your area that will do the same. It is a win-win situation for everyone.

Birds of a Feather ATCs

Here's the ATC's I made for my January swap with Sid. He picked the theme "Birds of a Feather". I used Inkadinkado stamps from a set or singles that I picked up at JoAnn. The local JoAnn doesn't have much scrapbook and stamping items. When I go back to visit my family they have a JoAnn superstore with lots of supplies. I got the two on the left on my recent tip in the $1 area. I picked up 6 others that were pretty neat too. It is like the Studio G $1 stamps. You don't think you are buying much then you realize you've got about 10 of these things in one trip! All three ATC's were made using glossy paper from the Paper Cut and Ranger Distress Inks applied with cut-n-dry foam. They were all embossed with Versa Mark ink and white embossing powder. The last one on the right has two layers of embossing. First the bird in white, then I colored the background in a pale blue by inking directly on a non stick craft sheet and spraying it with water. Then I stamped again using the all over diamond stamp by Lost Coast Designs. I embossed that with clear powder then colored the remaining background with a darker blue. Hope you like them.

Who loves you baby

Do any of you remember the show with Telly Savalas called Kojak? He was a NY cop that used to chew on lollipops. His catch phrase was "who loves ya baby". I was thinking about that when I made this card. The card back and envelopes were another Micheal's bargain bin find from K&Co. I got six cards and envelopes with some rub-ons for $1. What a deal! I used Spellbinders dies in my Cuttlebug to cut the green scalloped oval and a Fiskars shape cutter to cut the cream colored oval. I used scalloped scissors to cut the two rectangles. The owl stamp is from Inkadinkao and the phrase is from Stamps on Fire.

The scanning is a bit harsh on the image. I did my normal adjustments in Photoshop but it still is a bit off. Remember-- act surprised if you get it in the mail.

Another Sheetload card

Here's I card I made in advance based on the Sheetload template for August 2007. I sent the card to my Stamper's Corner ATC of the Month partner. I posted the ATC (Bugs) on the 1st of Feb. If you guessed the stamp is another of my Studio G $1 stamps you'd be correct.

This card was tough for me to adjust in Photoshop. I scanned it but couldn't get the correct lighting or color. I deleted all that and took a photo instead and then got better results. They always look MUCH better in person though.

Not what I intended

I started out with the intention of making something totally different. But a little voice told me to continue (yes I'm ok and please don't send the guys in the white coats to take me away). Anyway I had this stamp from Impression Obsession. I live near their factory (good thing). They have an annual sale and you can buy unmounted stamps, used stamps and overstocks (good thing). The prices are great (good thing) but just how many stamps does one need (not a "bad" thing) and is hubby home when I have to sneak this stuff in.....

I stamped this image using VersaFine Onyx Black and embossed it with Ranger Super Fine embossing powder. I colored it in using pastel watercolor markers from Inque and then added the embellishments from Marcella.

Oh yeah, the standard rules apply, act surprised if you get one in the mail since I'm making extra cards to have on hand.

Stampers Corner ATC of the month Feb 09 Bugs

Here's mt ATC of the month I made for my Stampers Corner Yahoo group. If possible, I'll try to work ahead and make the ATC's in advance since we have the themes for the whole year. The theme for Feb 09 was "Bugs". I used some Egyptian paper from Club Scrap and stamped some scarabs from Non Sequitur. I added an embellishment from Jolee's by EK Success. Hope you like it.
