Hello Goodbye ATC

The theme for this Altered Designs TGIF was song lyrics. If you grew up in the 60's or 70's and don't know who this represents...well there is a problem with your pop culture IQ. If you are a youngin' then I'll spill the beans...the ATC is highlighting The Beatles. I used a telephone stamp by Golden Acorn. I inked it with Versamark and then used clear embossing powder. I made the cutout of the "fab four" with my Silhouette. I got this design (don't ask me where) from the internet. The "Hello Goodbye" are stamped with Just Rite stamps.

I do card

I have trouble making cards for certain events like weddings. I used the Graffitti technique from the December 2004 Technique Junkie newsletter. The wedding I'm attending is an afternoon wedding but not formal. I thought the card would look a little classier in a black and white style. I stamped (Just Rite stamps) a black piece of cardstock with words like: bride, groom, rings, vows and such using Brilliance inks in silver, gold and platinum. After that I used a Fiskars border punch on the top and bottom. I finished the card with a heart I cut out and stamped "I Do".

Fun and Games ATCs

Like last time Sid and I decided to allow ourselves two months for the final swap of the year. I picked Fun and Games for the theme.

My first ATC uses a Tim Holtz designed, Stampers Anonymous stamp of Bingo. I colored it in with the Ranger Distress Inks and then used another stamp of just the ticket and raised it on pop dots. I got the image of the sulky lady from Tack-O-Rama and then printed up my own words with a very small font. The final touch is the bingo chip.

For my second ATC I used the card game Mille Bournes as my inspiration. The object of this game is to complete a 1000 (mille) mile journey. Along the way you might have car trouble, get a flat or be subject to speeding zones. I shrunk down some cards distressed them and glued them down as a collage. I stamped and embossed a Crafty Secrets image of a man driving and "Enjoy The Journey" on vellum to complete the card.

The last one uses another Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamp as the background. I stamped that with VersaMark and embossed with detail white embossing powder then I colored it with Ranger Alcohol Inks. In the foreground I used a Ouija board stamp StampCamp on vellum with StazOn. The final touch uses some Just Rite stamps with the beginnings of the types of questions you'd ask the Ouija board: will I?, does he? and is she?

Children ATCOTM

This was the last ATCOTM (ATC of the month) for this year at the Stampers Corner Yahoo Group. I stamped a Tim Holtz designed Stampers Anonymous stamp on marbled paper I made a while back. I outlined the crown and number with Sakura Glaze and Stardust Markers. The "future king" was stamped with Just Rite stamps and outlined with the Sakura clear Glaze pen. The Heidi Swap clear crown was colored with alcohol inks and a Krylon gold marker. I mounted the marbled paper on Rock King paper by DCWV and then on a piece of light blue card stock.

Triptych ATC

It was my choice of what theme to pick for my monthly ATC swap with Sid in the UK. I suggested either two diptych or one triptych. He said let's go with a triptych. I thought about what to do for the longest time and finally settled on a phrase I used in my Design II class.

In that class we were supposed to keep a journal and write things down that sparked our creative process. We were in the middle of one project and there was some questions posed to the instructor. For some reason I wrote this in my journal "Rules, rules, rules...There are no rules in Art!"

Anyway, this triptych can read two ways. I designed it to be read closed like a book where you'd read "There-Are-No-rules-In-Art". This is why I put the hand on the word in to signify that you'd open the triptych to read the blue panels after the first red panel. After I assembled it I realized you could also read it "In-Art-There-Are-No-Rules".

The backing is mat board and the hinges are tyvek. I know I had an old tyvek envelope but couldn't find it. I asked hubby if he had some and he went into the garage and came back with a roll that was about a yard wide and two miles long...yes we do have some tyvek, the house wrap kind. I needed about 7" x 1" so I didn't make much of a dent.

The pages on top of the mat board are from my first attempt at marbleizing paper. I took a class at the local art center (didn't care for the class but got my confidence in creating the paper) and had the paper left over. On top of that are the words and many different stamps. I have stamps from JustRite, Inka, Inque and Stampers Anonymous. I used a Krylon gold leaf pen to outline the edges and cover the tyvek white color to complete the project. I'm really happy with how it turned out and hope Sid likes it.

Happy 29th Birthday (yeah right)

I don't mind revealing my real age but I like to joke that my birthdays stopped at 29. Somehow all my nieces got older than me. I thought this card illustrated how to wish someone that forever 29 birthday. The photo image stamp is from Stampsmith and the words were created using JustRite letter stamps. The two patterned papers on the right are from K&Co. The one on the right is from DCWV. A bit of inking the edges and a corned punch from Fiskars completes the card.
