Open Theme ATC

For this Altered Designs Open Theme TGIF I used one of my recycled cereal boxes with the Portfolio Oil Pastels. After the background was complete I stamped a Stampers Anonymous image and then added a few old buttons and old mini ric-rac.

Leonardo ATC

This is another ATC where I used a portion of a recycled cereal box and the water based oil pastel technique. All the stamps are by Lost Coast Designs. A Tim Holtz safety pin completes the ATC. It's hard to read it in the scan but the pin says Ideas on the top.

Bon Voyage ATC

Here's an ATC I made for the Stampers Corner Yahoo Group with the theme of Bon Voyage. I already had a rub-on with that phrase and an ATC with a travel theme using stamps from Royal Langnickel and recycled cereal boxes with oil pastels so I put them together. I didn't think the rub-on would work well with the gritty texture of the gesso on the cereal boxes so I added a layer of acetate which is why I used the brads.

Pointy Hats ATC

A recent theme at the Altered Designs Yahoo group had the theme of Pointy Hats. I used another one of my oil pastel altered cereal boxes as the base. The stamp is from Stamp Camp and I finished it off with
some glitter glue and my twisted humor.

Open Theme ATC

Every week on the Altered Designs Yahoo Group we have an ATC Mingle. You make an ATC that fits the theme and post it to the group. On Friday you can view who you will send yours to and which one you will get. The last week of every month this year the theme is "Open" so you can do whatever you'd like as long as it is an ATC. I chose one I'd had made during my first recycled cereal box frenzy with oil pastels. This one uses stamps by Stampsmith and Inkadinkado. I added an Asian charm as an embellishment.

Fall Colors ATC

The theme for this Altered Designs TGIF ATC was Fall Colors. I started with an old cereal box and applied a coat of gesso. On top of that is various colors of Portfolio Oil Pastels that I smeared with my fingers. The way they blend is with some smeared Matte Medium. After it dried I stamped some Inque stamps with fall colors and then outlined the edge with a Krylon pen.

Homeless ATC's get adopted

One of the neat things about joining Yahoo groups is "meeting" people (via the internet) you have a common interest with -- like creating cards or ATC's or mini books. I posted an image to the Altered Designs group of one of my TGIF ATC's and got a comment back asking if I wanted to do a swap apart from the group. These previously homeless ATC's are now in the hands of Stephanie of Joyulision. She does some neat digital creations with Photoshop -- give her site a look/see and I think you'll like it. She also has a keen photographic eye and has some beautiful photographs on her site. Two of the ATC's (the middle and right one) were already featured on previous posts. The were colored with Ranger Alcohol inks and the phrases printed in acetate. The one on the left is another of my recycled cereal boxes with gesso and Portfolio Oil Pastels. The stamps on that one were from...you guess it Studio G.

It's almost like a quilt

I mentioned before that I'm a member of a bunch of Yahoo groups devoted to paper crafts and bookmaking. I'm participating in a swap with Art Techniques a mixed media group. The 2009 Technique Fat Book has 120 participants all doing different techniques. Our theme for this swap is homemade, cheap or recycled materials. I'm doing the technique I featured in a previous post mimicking what Lori Roberts did on recycled cereal or similar weight cardboard with water soluble oil pastels. I made 130 instead of 120 because we had 125 participants originally and some folks dropped out. As I was laying all of these pages on the floor to take the photo it reminded me of a quilt. These are going in the mail very soon to the hostess and I can't wait to see what I get in return.
Hope you like my technique. Until my next post,
Diane

My first online ATC trades

Remember the ATCs I posted yesterday? What? You don't, well take a look at yesterdays post to see them. Well anyway, as I mentioned in my first post...What? You didn't see that either?! Well anyway, I'm a private person (yea right you and every other person that has a blog) and finally decided this summer (July) to give it a go at doing some online trading. I ran across a blog from a guy in the UK that had posted some of his ATCs for trade. One thing led to another and Sid and I now trade on a monthly basis. We alternate picking a topic of the month (sometimes a technique, sometimes colors or other subjects) and we send out a group of three. I've had an advantage though since he has been posting his ATCs on the web I get to see them before they arrive. BUT it is still like Christmas every month since when they arrive I realize they are SO much better in person. The colors and shine is so much better in person. Here's the first group of three I sent him. For those of you not familiar this is the bandana technique. If you google it you'll find loads of links to many ways of doing this. I'll tell you how I did mine tomorrow....the suspense is mounting I can tell.
