Are we there yet card

If this layout looks familiar to you then you must be a regular viewer of my blog. This is another travel card using a Sheetload template with the American Crafts kit. The stamp on this card is from Cloud 9 designs. I also used a Spellbinder template to cut out the blue scalloped square.

This card is for my niece and her family taking a trip to Disneyworld. Here's hoping for sunny but not too hot temperatures and short lines.

Live in the moment card

I made this as an anniversary card for some good friends. The background is the Glimmer Lace technique  from the Aug/Sep issue of the Technique Junkies newsletter. I substituted Ranger Distress Ink refills and Perfect Pearls. The stamps are Tim Holtz designed by Stampers Anonymous. I layered the sentiment by cutting a shape with a Spellbinders die.

Another Double Bugging Birthday

Here's another Double Bugging card that I made for my sister. I used a stamp by Inque that I cut out using a Spellbinders die. I added a bit of ribbon in a coordinating color and a few jewels to complet the card.

Age is only a number..

Here's a simple layout card I made for my niece that is hitting the big "40". How she ever got older than me I'll never figure out. I'll have to teach her the fine art of static age like my forever 29. This card was made using patterned paper by K&Co along with drywall patch overlayed with a Spellbinders frame. On top of that is the focal point image by Crafty Secrets. I added a couple of buttons to finish it off.

Happy Halloween Preview #2

Here's two more Halloween cards I made using an owl theme. The inside has a cutout from my Silhouette that says Happy-Owl-O-Ween. The one on the top uses a faux postage stamp by Just For Fun. The owl image is actually an old card reused. The bottom one uses stamps by Inkadinkado and a Spellbinders cutout.

Thinking of You Card

Here's a card I sent with a swap recently. The background paper is K&Co as is the red paper. The stamped image and sentiment are from the Bluebird collection by Artistic Outpost. I used the Cabin Fever handmade rainbow pad Adirondack to color the stamp. The final touch was adding a couple of Spellbinder die cut images.

Faux Marbling Technique Junkie Card

Here's a card I made using the Faux Marbling Technique from the Oct/Nov 2009 issue of Technique Junkies. I actually started with a paper that had a very subtle pattern by K&Co. I used Adirondak Inks to creat the look. The stamp is by Impression Obsession and the swirls were made with a Spellbinders die in my Cuttlebug.

Double Bugging Anniversary Card

Yet another of my Double Bugging cards. I thought these two mirrored birds looked like they'd work for an anniversary card. I don't think it was possible to have them facing each other which would have looked better. I stamped a suitable phrase using a stamp by Heidi Grace that I mounted on die cuts by Spellbinders.

King of the Castle Birthday card

I made this card for my brother. Sometimes it's tough planning a card for guys. Last year I did the nut and bolts, screwdrivers and tools thing. This year it is a bit different. I went with a background of Farmers Market Alcohol Inks. The stamps are from Crafty Secrets that I layered a bit using a Spellbinders die as the base. I also used a McGill punch.

Here's a card I made using some paper by K&Co, embellishments by Crafty Secrets and a die cut using my Cuttlebug with a Spellbinders die.

What the second challenge turned into

Here's the final result of my second double embossing. Like the previous one I darkened it up with the ColorBox chalk inks then put in on a A2 card. I used my cuttlebug with Spellbinders dyes, ribbon and a bit of bling like the other card. I'm happy with the results.

What one challenge turned into

Here's the final result of my green double embossed Cuttlebug challenge that I showed you four days ago. I darkened it up a bit with the same color and trimmed the cardstock to fit a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card (which is half of an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock). I used my spellbinders dye and Studio G $1 stamps along with some ribbon and bling flowers to finish it off. I like the concept and will likely do more. Now I need to finish the blue one.

Ralph Waldo Emerson quote card

I got a free set of art quotes from Pennywise Art and made this card. I printed the quotes on acetate and colored this one in Ranger Alcohol Inks using Stream, Stonewashed and Denim a bit of blending solution and Silver. I ran this through my Cuttlebug using a Spellbinder dye. It cut OK but I think other machines might cut acetate better. I glued the acetate to a white backing paper using Diamond Glaze. This makes the words stand out better having a light background. I added one more dark blue layer bigger than the acetate that I cut with Provo Craft scissors. The base of the card was run through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder and then inked to complete the design.

Until next time,

Batch cards

Some people might think this is "wrong" but I sometimes make cards in batches. I have used ideas from Sheetload a few times and I'll tell you what - you can crank out a bunch of cards (all the same and all a bit different too) in a short time. I use their design and modify it a bit to suit my paper and embellishments. The card base is simple bulk card stock (8 11/2 x 11 cut in half and scored to get two A2 size cards). Three have the plum background card stock from DCWV while the remaining papers are from American Traditional Designs. The sentiments on the front are stamped by Cloud 9 Design or Impression Obsession. I used two fun tools to make these cards. The first is my Cuttlebug with the Spellbinder scalloped square die. The second tool is the Paper Gator to round the corners of the smaller paper. It makes great cuts on multiple sheets of paper and many other things. By the way if you happen to get one of these cards act surprised like you've never seen it before!
